How Can You Become A Driving Instructor?

ADI Test Part 1
First, you need to arrive for the ADI training test in two parts – the theory test and a hazard perception test. For the theory test, there are 100 multiple-choice questions. Within the test, four bands are applicable wherein you have to secure 80% marks. You will be allocated 1½ hours time for completing the test. You need an overall 85% pass mark for this test part.
In the hazard perception test, there will be 14 video clips. Out of possible 75, the pass mark is 57. An additional 20 minutes will be allocated for completing the hazard perception test.
You can take these tests many times as will be useful to you. The training includes the theory and hazard perception section of the ADI test through online Zoom training, a hazard perception kit for approved driving materials and reading materials, as well as the DVSA theory test.
ADI Test Part 2
Next comes the driving and eyesight test. Driver & Vehicle Standards Agency Supervising Examiner conducts this test. The duration of the test is for an hour. As the applicant, you will have to demonstrate your driving abilities and how well you are maneuvering the car with safety and under control.
Only six minor errors and no serious fault can be forgiven as a qualifying metric. You can take this test up to three times.
ADI Test Part 3
The Part 3 test aims at ability assessment at instructing and whether the instructions are helpful to a learner to learn to drive efficiently. The driving examiner will conduct the Part 3 exam by observing how you are delivering a normal 1-hour lesson. The examiner will mark you among the other factors on Risk Management, Lesson Planning, Teaching and Learning Strategies. You are allowed to take the test up to three times.
